However, the physician that performs your procedure may offer conscious sedation or other sedative options. After you are comfortably numb, a small incision will be made, and a cannula handpiece will be used to remove fat from the donor area. The fat will be cleaned and separated, and your physician will inject it with specialized syringes back into the area in need of more volume.
