What is Hormone Optimization?
Many men and women suffer from unbalanced hormones. This can cause a variety of symptoms, like fatigue, weight gain, reduced libido, and more. At Flawless Salon and Medical Spa, we offer hormone optimization using BioTE® bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). CEO Patience Peale and her team offer this to men and women at their Butte, MT office. If you're experiencing any of the below symptoms, we encourage you to contact our office as it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance.

- Loss of sex drive
- Brain fog
- Irritability
- Weight gain

Hormone Optimization Reviews
How is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Performed?
During your first appointment, we'll complete a physical exam and go over a number of health questions, including a list of medications, your symptoms, and more. We'll take a blood sample, as well. This will all help us identify which hormones are out of balance so we can create a custom treatment plan. From there, we'll insert a small rice-size BioTE pellet under your skin that will slowly release hormones into your bloodstream. To do this, we'll apply a local anesthetic and will make a small incision into your skin where the pellet will be inserted. Then, of course, we'll close the incision up. Every 3 – 6 months, we'll have you come in so we can insert a new pellet. While it may seem awkward to have a pellet in your skin, you should not feel it at all.
Hormone Optimization FAQ
Is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy safe?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is generally considered safe for the majority of eligible patients. Those with a family or medical history of blood clots, stroke, or certain cancers may not be candidates for BHRT. During your consultation with Dr. Kinsner or a member of our team, we will go over your medical history to determine if hormone optimization is right for you.
How quickly does BHRT work?
Most patients can start to see noticeable results within about 3 – 4 weeks. Typically, optimal results can be seen in about 2 – 3 months.
Does bioidentical hormone replacement therapy have any side effects?
While their body adjusts to the hormone therapy, some patients may experience minor side effects that can include:
- Increased facial hair
- Fatigue
- Acne
- Mood swings
- Headaches
- Weight fluctuations
Typically, these effects subside as the body gets used to the new hormone levels and the benefits start to be seen.
Is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) covered by insurance?
Because it is such a new treatment and hasn't yet gained FDA approval, most insurance providers don't cover BHRT. Some providers will reimburse some costs if you pay out of pocket. You should always contact your insurance provider before beginning any treatment regimen.
